West Bengal Police conduct raids in Kolkata and South 24 Parganas on retailers dealing in counterfeit Goodknight LV products….

Kolkata, February 18, 2026: West Bengal Police, along with Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL)—the company behind Goodknight, India’s leading household insecticide brand conducted raids in Kolkata and South 24 Parganas to curb the sale of counterfeit Goodknight LV products in the region. The raids, carried out with support from GCPL’s investigation agency, mark a crucial step in curbing the spread of fake mosquito repellent products in the market.

Based on actionable intelligence, the local police and investigative teams conducted raids at several retail and stocking locations suspected of dealing in counterfeit products. The raids led to the seizure of a significant volume of counterfeit Goodknight materials, indicating a well-organized operation involved in manufacturing and distributing fake products.

In Kolkata, a raid was conducted at S. Nawaz Stores located at 7, R.G. Kar Road, Shyambazar. The police recovered counterfeit Godrej Goodknight Flash LV twin refills, including seven carton boxes each containing 120 boxes (1,680 pieces) and one carton box containing 11 boxes (22 pieces).

In South 24 Parganas, police conducted raids at Sreehari Bhandar, located at KM Roychowdhury Road, Rajpur Bazar, Sonarpur, and Sarada Bhandar, located at Sonarpur Gorkhara Bazar. The seized items included 10 packs of New Goodknight Flash LV with two refills each, 20 pieces of New Goodknight 45 ml refills, 20 Goodknight LV combo packs containing one machine and one refill, and 39 Goodknight LV 45 ml refills.

FIRs (First Information Report) have been lodged against the accused under multiple Sections of The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act and Copyright Act, 1957. Authorities are now tracking the distribution links and supply networks associated with this unit to prevent further circulation of such hazardous products in West Bengal and adjoining states. This action stands as a warning to those dealing in counterfeit goods and reflects GCPL’s commitment to protecting consumer trust.

Commenting on the issue, Ashwin Moorthy, CMO, Godrej Consumer Products Ltd, said, “The spread of counterfeit products across the country is a major concern for the FMCG industry. Counterfeits or look alike products are not only illegal, but also harmful and hazardous to human health.  GCPL invests a significant part of its revenue to develop innovative products that continue to serve customers better and Goodknight, a market leader in the home insecticide category, is one such example. We regularly undertake quality checks of our products through a collaboration with our distribution network, local authorities, and consumers. This initiative with the West Bengal police authorities will reprimand local retailers, manufacturers, and distributors of duplicate Goodknight products in the state.”

Given the presence of counterfeit Goodknight products in the market, consumers should exercise caution and purchase only with a genuine sales invoice. If people suspect any duplicate Goodknight products or find any wholesaler/retailer dealing in them, they can report the matter to GCPL by writing to care@godrejcp.com or calling on 1800-266-0007
